Beije - Azimuth (GMJ Introspective Mix)

from Re:Imagined 4 by Various Artists

/

about

Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint opens the month of August by presenting the fourth installment of their ‘Re:Imagined' series. With the inaugural edition landing in February of 2020, these Various Artists EP showcases take a look back over the label's catalog, presenting new interpretations from some of the freshest talent in the underground. Not bound by genre or style, the first three installments in the series earned praise for their contemporary blend of organic, progressive and deep house sounds. Now presenting the fourth installment in the series, Sound Avenue invites GMJ, Jayden Klight, Mundos Sutis, Yudi Watanabe and Ric Niels to re-interpret tracks by Beije, Joe Miller, Pedro Capelossi, Madloch and Eric Lune.

Returning to the label and unveiling a new interpretation of Beije's 'Azimuth' is GMJ. Based in Melbourne, Australian artist GMJ has been a primary figure in the progressive house scene for over a decade. His passion for deep and emotive electronic music has seen him land releases on the industry's most esteemed imprints. From Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music to Cid Inc's Replug Records and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, it's GMJ's storytelling style that continues to surprise and inspire even the genre's most discerning fans. Having made his Sound Avenue debut in 2020 with a remix of Eric Lune's ‘Embers', GMJ followed that up with a second remix project for the label in 2021, providing an organic take on Beije's ‘Azimuth'. Now just over a year later GMJ returns to Sound Avenue with a previously unreleased take on ‘Azimuth'. Aptly titled ‘Introspective Mix' it's a version that carries the great thematic qualities of GMJ's main mix, but with a long balmy intro, fuzzed out musicality and greater atmospheric depth overall. A must for the more astute selectors out there.
