The latest release from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Arina Mur back to the label for her debut single. Since making her production debut just over three years ago, the Russian artist has found a home on Anjunadeep, Akbal Music and Seven Villas, where her deep, organic sound has flourished. Also, an accomplished DJ, Arina has had the honour of opening for top international talents such as MANDY, Pablo Bolivar, Gorje Hewek and Izhevski. October of 2020 marked Arina's Sound Avenue debut with a well-received remix of the Spotify hit ‘Kafka' by Ercos Blanka. Now making a welcome return to the label, Arina presents a new single entitled ‘Make a Wish', alongside remixes from Jim Rider and Pambouk.
Since first emerging in 2017 Arina's exotic sound has taken square aim at the dance floor. Her latest ‘Make a Wish' continues that trend with a robust, well-shaped groove and healthy percussive complement. Bursting with ultrasonic qualities, Arina expertly marries vibrant arps with plush tones and choir-like vocal pads. Energetic and heavenly in equal measure, the first act sets the stage for a grandiose style break, complete with glowing swells and gorgeous vocal phrasing, perfectly setting the stage for a thumping drop and Mediterranean inspired finale.
Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of ‘Make a Wish' is Jim Rider. Based in the UK, Jim Rider has been a key figure in London's Electronic Music scene as a DJ, producer and promoter. Having first emerged in 2017 as a producer, it was 2020 that proved to be a breakout year for Jim, landing releases via Lee Burridge's TRYBESof and Tale & Tone imprints, as well as projects for Akbal Music, Kindisch and his own Signs imprint. Now adding Sound Avenue to his resume, Jim debuts on the label with an inspired take on ‘Make a Wish'. Making great use of the parts and reprocessing them to maximum effect, the UK artist has created a complement that excels on rhythm and groove. Wonky tones and Mediterranean musicality set the mood early, as immaculately contoured bass and buzzing effects add swing and depth across the first movement. A timely break sits at the heart of the journey, pulling more emotion into the narrative as the vocal rises across placid pads and a bed of exotic percussion, onwards to a trippy finale.
The release concludes with Pambouk also making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Make a Wish'. After exploring different genres of music and releasing many tracks under various monikers for years, the Grammy nominated DJ and producer eventually settled on the Pambouk alias for his organic sounds. Fast forward two years and the Armenian artist has found a home on Hoomidaas, Melody Of the Soul and Proton Music. Now adding another key entry to his well-kept discography, Pambouk rounds out the release with a deeper take on ‘Make a Wish'. Rhythmically enticing from the outset, a bed of warm beats and low-slung bass stabs set the foundation for a storyboard of jangly motifs and organic drums. Transcendent in delivery, the vocal narrative delights, striking at timely moments and juxtaposed beautifully with its colourful surroundings. Furthering its textural appeal is a glowing break, building tension through muted beats and vocal phrasing, before pulling back as the beats drop for a finale that is equal parts musical and groovy. A gorgeous interpretation from Pambouk, which rounds out a welcome return to the label for Arina Mur, who impresses once again with ‘Make a Wish'.
